    EPR stands for Extended Producer Responsibility. It is an Authorization which is issued by CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board). It is applicable on electronic & electric equipment that cover under the Schedule 1 Category list Including all their Components, Consumable and Spare Parts.

    Extended Producer Responsibility Is applicable on all the Producers of Electronics into the country including Manufacturers, Importers, Dealers, E-Retailers & Bulk consumers to channelize the proper disposal of E-Waste and to prevent their hazardous effects on the environment and living beings.

    Through EPR registration the Producer has been given an extra Responsibility to manage and take care of the lifecycle of the electronics. The electronic waste after its Expiry needs to be properly disposed of, transported, stored, dismantled, segregated and recycled through the means of an Authorized E waste Recyclers.

    EPR stands for Extended Producer’s Responsibility. EPR Certificate is mandatory for Indian Manufacturer / Importer of products for E-waste management. EPR Authorization is given by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) under MoEFCC, Government of India.     Compliance

    Once the EPR authorization is granted the certificate holder must make sure to fulfil the following compliances in order to create awareness about E-Waste Recycling to the masses.

    • EPR Authorization holder needs to submit the sales record on quarterly basis to the CPCB department.
    • EPR Authorization holder needs to organize 2 seminars on Annual basis for general public awareness under company banner and submit relevant photograph & video in CPCB department.
    • EPR Authorization holder needs to arrange E-waste Awareness Program are mentioned below:
    • Advertisement in Newspapers/TV/ Radio, Pamphlets, Booklets under e-waste awareness program.
    • EPR authorization holder needs to fulfill the E–Waste Target as per the EPR Authorization.
    • EPR authorization holder needs to submit Form 2 Monthly/Quarterly to the department.
    • EPR authorization holder needs to submit Form-3 Yearly basis.
    • EPR authorization holder needs to add Recycling Logo on the product /packaging/user manual.

    Post the Grant of EPR Authorization

    Once the EPR Authorization is granted the Certificate holder must make sure that they meet all the necessary compliances along with maintaining all the records.

    The department can conduct random checks and failure to maintain anything can result in penalty or cancellation of Authorization.

    E-Waste Recycling Target Calculator

    What is E-Waste Recycling Target?
    The main fundamental reason for procuring the EPR Certificate/EPR Authorization is to make sure that you recycle your E-Waste based on the targets received by the Central Pollution Control Board.

    These targets will be allotted to you on the basis of the sales data provided by you. These calculations are arrived at by 2 methods depending upon the number of years of your import or the number of years you have been operational.

    Method 1

    Authorization for Producers/importers, who have recently started their operations, whose number of years of operations is lesser than the average life of the product they are selling as follows:

    Note :

    • E-wasterecycling target shall be reviewed and may be increased after the end of year 2028- 2029.
    • The importers of used electrical and electronic equipment shall have 100% extendedproducer responsibility obligation for the imported material after end of life, if not re-exported.
    • E-Waste recycling targets shall not be applicable for waste generated from solarphotovoltaic modules or panels or cells.

    Method 2

    Authorization for Producers/importers, who are in operation for a period equal to or more than the average life of the product is as follows:

    Extended Producer Responsibility targets for producers, who have started sales operations recently, i.e.number of years of sales operations is less than average life of their products mentioned in the guidelines issued by the Central Pollution Control Board from time to time.

    Note :

    • Once the number of years of sales operation equals the average life of their product mentioned in the guidelines issued by Central Pollution Control Board, their extended producer responsibility obligation shall be as per Schedule-III
    • E-Waste recycling targets shall not be applicable for waste generated from solar photo-voltaic modules or panels or cells.
